Minecraft’s last game drop of 2026 enters testing: ice caves, the frostbite and ice balls

Published:

On September 30, 2026, Mojang Studios opened testing for the final Minecraft game drop of 2026.

What’s new

  • New ice caves, decorated with ice crystals and icicles; the icicles are fragile.
  • A new mob, the frostbite (a frozen zombie variant), throws ice balls; Mojang also mentions a Freezing potion.
  • The first test build, on September 30, is a Bedrock Edition preview/beta; the post also explains how to enable Java Edition snapshots in the Minecraft Launcher.
  • Mojang warns that testing versions can corrupt worlds and asks players to back them up or use a separate folder.

What it means for account value

Minecraft accounts are valued on the account type (Java or Bedrock), the username and capes — not on in-game content. Updates like these change what players can do, not what an account is worth.

Minecraft Dungeons II is out: the Sift dimension and the Illager High Council

Published:

Mojang Studios launched Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29, 2026.

What’s new

  • Available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
  • The story pits players against the Illager High Council — the Prime Enchanter, the Supreme Evoker and the Grand Illusioner.
  • Players explore a new dimension, the Sift, which Mojang says will also come to Minecraft Java and Bedrock next year.
  • Solo play or co-op for up to 4 players, online or on the same screen.

What it means for account value

Dungeons II is a separate game. Minecraft Java and Bedrock accounts are still valued on account type, username and capes, so the launch does not change what they are worth.

At Minecraft Live on September 26, 2026, Mojang Studios announced that the game’s fourth dimension, The Sift, will come to Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition next year.

What’s new

  • The Sift is the first new dimension in over 14 years, joining the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
  • It debuts in Minecraft Dungeons II, which Mojang dated for September 29, 2026.
  • Minecraft World, a themed attraction, opens in London in 2027.
  • The Wilderness Bound game drop arrived on September 15 with the dappled forest, straw beds, abandoned camps and cushions.

What it means for account value

Minecraft accounts are valued on the account type (Java or Bedrock), the username and capes — not on in-game content. Updates like these change what players can do, not what an account is worth.

Minecraft Wilderness Bound drop: the dappled forest, straw beds and abandoned camps

Published:

Mojang Studios named its third game drop of 2026 “Wilderness Bound” on September 5 and released it on September 15.

What’s new

  • A new biome, the dappled forest, with tall poplar trees and shelf mushrooms.
  • Straw beds made from three hay bales let players skip the night without resetting their spawn point.
  • Abandoned camps to explore, and cushions crafted from three wool slabs of the same color.
  • Poplar wood plus expanded concrete and wool building sets.

What it means for account value

Minecraft accounts are valued on account type, username and capes, not on game content, so a game drop does not change what an account is worth.
